From very early in life, I have been interested in exploring how each person’s life story is shaped by their experiences and the meanings they make of them; thereby, becoming the building blocks by which the next chapter in life is constructed.

Through my work with clients, ministry and the nearly 20 years that I worked with families and individuals experiencing domestic violence, I have grown in my understanding about the impact of trauma and loss—ambiguous and disenfranchised losses, and how these losses impact our engagement with the world and systems around us. As a therapist, I understand the fundamental impact that family systems have on how well we function and our ability to make and sustain change. In short, none of us has gotten where we are alone, and we all need a little help from time to time.

I too have experienced many life transitions and the devastating loss of a child. These experiences lead me to transition to Marriage and Family therapy. Through my own experiences and as I encountered other mothers and listened to their stories, it strengthened my desire to learn more and provide individuals and families with a collaborative, non-judgmental, safe, secure and empowering environment in which they could define, develop and establish skills, support systems and narratives that are optimal for them. My work is based in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Experiential therapy which focus from this perspective.

As to my education and interest, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Family Studies from Metropolitan State University and my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. I have been married for over 34 years
and am the mother of three, with five grands. I am a lover of poetry, theater, dance, foreign films, cartoons/anime/comics, video games and boxing. There isn’t much that I don’t find worthy of curious exploration; so, let’s explore together.

I am available for individual, couple and family therapy.
