Scheduling

As a clinic, we offer both in-person and telehealth appointments, however, not all clinicians offer in-person appointments. Please indicate a preference for in-person on your scheduling inquiry form and our Clinic Intake Coordinator will take this into consideration when recommending a therapist. A list of therapists accepting new clients and approximate wait time (if applicable) can be found further down this page.

New Clients

Step One: tell us more about yourself and what you are looking for:

Our Scheduling Inquiry form is not required, however, it is recommended in order for us to assist in determining the best fit for your needs. Not all of our providers are contracted with all insurance companies. Nor do all of our providers work with all age groups and/or all client concerns. Completing the scheduling inquiry allows us to get to know you better before connecting you with one of our providers. After the submission of a scheduling inquiry you can expect the following:

  • An auto-generated confirmation email with information about what to expect next and instructions for continuing through the scheduling process.

  • A personalized email (typically arrives within 2 days) with any follow-up questions, recommended therapists, and instructions for continuing through the scheduling process.

Step Two: Optional - check our availability

The availability of our clinicians can be viewed from the online scheduling portal before completing the paperwork.

  • Choose a clinician’s name from the drop-down, and location if that is important to you, and select “View Available Times”.

    • If you View Available Times without selecting a clinician or location you will not be able to identify which available slots are with which clinician or at which location.

Step Three: complete the paperwork or schedule a Pre-Intake Paperwork appointment.
New Client Paperwork is to be completed before scheduling an appointment.

  • Typically within 3 business days of submitting the new client paperwork, you will be invited (by TherapyPortal.com) to create a client portal account.

We offer Pre-Intake Paperwork appointments for clients with limited access to complete our electronic forms or clients newer to therapy looking for assistance in navigating the consent forms. Please email our Intake Coordinators scheduling@thefamilydevelopmentcenter.com

Step Four: request an appointment

Request an appointment through our client portal.

  • Once invited, log in to your client portal account to request an appointment with a participating provider.

Please pay special attention to the following portal notes:

  • There is no guarantee that the time slot you see/request is available week to week.

  • Appointments cannot be requested through the portal more than three weeks out.

  • Initial appointments must be requested a minimum of 32 hours in advance to allow the provider and client time to complete the necessary steps prior to the session. If you attempt to schedule an initial appointment within 32 hours you will receive a message to call the clinic - we cannot change that message and we ask that you please select a different date/time that is at least 32 hours in the future.

  • Not all providers work with all ages and/or areas of concern and some of our providers are scheduling from a waiting list. Only request an appointment with a provider that was recommended to you. If you request an appointment with a different provider, your request will be declined.

Step Five: confirmation from therapist

Wait for confirmation.

  • Our Providers will review and confirm or decline their own appointment requests. If you request an appointment with a provider who is not accepting new clients it may be declined by the clinic immediately, you will receive an email requesting that you select a different provider.

Step Six: insurance verification & prepayment

Watch for your insurance Benefits & Eliisurgibility email with your estimated amounts for services.

  • If you elected to prepay for your services, there will be instructions for making payments. Appointments will be canceled if prepayments are not made and entered into accounts prior to sessions.

If you have any questions we can be reached at scheduling@thefamilydevelopmentcenter.com.

Consultation with a Master’s-Level Clinical Intern

Free 15-30 minute consultations are available with our Interns for new clients considering therapy. We offer this consultation to help both the client and the clinician determine if the therapy will be a good fit. The consultation may take place either virtually or via telephone.

A consultation is not a free therapy session.

Existing Clients

Most of our providers schedule with their existing clients in-session or via email. If your provider participates in online scheduling you can request an appointment through your client portal account. If you do not have an account or have forgotten your password please reach out to your provider - their contact info can be found on their provider bio page.
