Mental Health Pracittioner
Jennah Al, MA
SHE / HER
I believe there is endless value in offering others a space that centers acceptance as a cornerstone of fostering growth. My approach is informed by person-centered and systemic approaches. As an intersectional feminist I believe that social categorizations are interconnected and can lead to overlapping systems of discrimination. My systemic and feminist lens invites curiosity surrounding the complexity of the world we live and inquiry into who we are in the context of our relationships as well as the context of the larger social systems.
The foundation of my work is rooted in compassion and curiosity. My intention is to co-create the therapy experience with my clients through collaboration and relationships.
Some of my favorite work with clients includes identifying and practicing coping skills, guiding people through life’s transitions and challenges, and teaching and supporting people in how to feel connected to mind, body and core as they navigate the rough seas of life.
I am a collaborative therapist which means I follow my client’s lead and their expertise. I strongly believe in playing to people's strengths, honing skills that facilitate growth, and honoring the autonomy of my clients and their goals.
Prior to joining the Family Development Center, I spent five years working in a Middle-High School setting supporting special education students. I used individualized, strengths-based approaches to support students in developing skills in communication and social-emotional learning, self-advocacy, regulation, identity exploration, and more. I am excited to continue my work supporting young people and their parents.
When I am not at the Family Development Center, I am likely working on something Lego related. I also enjoy baking, and crafting things out of air-dry clay. I look forward to getting to know you!
