Frequently Asked Questions

  • Transparency note: While we deeply appreciate your support, contributions are not tax-deductible, as we operate as a for-profit S-corporation. Every contribution goes directly toward sustaining our mission and services.

  • Where Your Support Goes

Your contribution directly supports The Family Development Center’s mission to provide accessible, relational, and culturally responsive mental health care while sustaining the clinicians who make this work possible.

    Contributions help us:

    • Stabilize clinician salaries and benefits, ensuring our staff can continue showing up for clients and communities even when insurance payments are delayed, denied, or unpredictable.

    • Offer emergency and flexible support for clinicians, including schedule flexibility, caseload coverage, and emergency PTO during times of acute stress or crisis.

    • Sustaining Our Equity Work

Your support helps sustain The Family Development Center’s ongoing equity initiatives within the realities of being a revenue-based, insurance-reliant organization. While insurance reimbursement rarely covers the full scope of equity-centered labor, contributions allow us to invest in work that is essential to our mission but often uncompensated.

      Donations support:

      • Equity consultation and training with external consultants to strengthen culturally responsive, anti-racist clinical practice across the organization.

      • Training stipends and paid learning time for clinicians to deepen their skills in equity-informed, trauma-responsive care.

      • Stipends and support for interns and trainees, reducing financial barriers to entering the mental health field and supporting a more diverse future workforce.

Your contribution helps make equity a practice, not just a value—allowing TFDC to invest in people, learning, and community relationships even when insurance systems fall short.

    • Expand access to short-term, low- or reduced-cost therapy and support spaces for individuals and communities affected by the structural barriers of racism, capitalism and patriarchy.

    • Provide education, consultation, and support to schools and community organizations, offering trauma-informed guidance and care that meets people where they are.

Because we are an insurance-based clinic committed to equity and ethical care, this work often requires us to move faster than reimbursement systems allow. Your contribution helps bridge that gap—making it possible for us to act with integrity, responsiveness, and care for both our clients and our clinicians.

Thank you for supporting a model of mental health care that centers people, relationships, and collective well-being.

  • Yes. Memorial contributions are a meaningful way to honor someone’s life while supporting care, community, and connection through TFDC’s work.
