Mental Health Practitioner
Amy Griffiths Tori
SHE / HER
Therapy can be transformational! This is my true belief, and as your therapist, I look forward to listening with compassion and skill to what in your life you would like to change. Together we will set goals and try a range of strategies, from Emotionally-Focused Therapy to mindfulness to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to narrative-based approaches that empower you to tell a new story of your life. I also believe that you are stronger than you know—and that therapy can be an experience of discovering your own wisdom and creating solutions that are exactly right for you. I am especially interested in working with people experiencing stressful lifestage transitions, depression and anxiety, relationship challenges, spiritual alienation, loneliness and fear, and grief and loss of all kinds. My non-pathologizing approach to these issues is to see them—and you—as relational and responsive to systems—we’ll talk about what that means in session! As a spouse in an intercultural marriage, a committed ally to my LGBTQ+ friends and family, and an intersectional feminist, I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from people whose perspectives differ from my own. As your therapist, I will do everything I can to welcome and honor all of who you are.
I am certified in the Gottman Method (Levels 1 & and 2) couples therapy and as a Prepare/Enrich relationship assessment provider. I am also a certified Brainspotting practitioner, and have earned a certificate in Advanced Grief Counseling, as well. In my previous career as a college professor, I used literature to help students discover and articulate their core values about themselves and the world. I believe therapy is a place for you to do something similar—to make meaning of your whole, complex, painful and beautiful life experience.
I can’t wait to work with you!
