Master’s Level Clinical Intern
Kara Swan
SHE / HER
I have a lifelong passion for serving others. I have always had a deep interest in the world around me and endlessly curious about the many ways I could be a part of effecting change. I have dedicated my life to learning about politics and global health in an effort to understand better the systems that are inextricably linked to how we experience the communities we inhabit. I work from feminist theory; the purpose of using a feminist lens is to consider the lived experience of any person/people, not just women, with an emphasis on oppression.
I believe in tailoring my approach to where the client is on their healing journey. I believe each individual is the expert on their own life and has the power to make meaningful change. I am committed to making therapy a space for all individuals to learn, grow and thrive.
My hope is to create and environment in which the lived experiences of the people I work with will be heard and valued. I believe each person has unique strengths that can be used to transform their life.
I am Master’s level clinical intern at the University of Minnesota studying counselor education. I attended the University of Iowa, receiving my degree in global health and public policy. When I am not providing therapy, I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, and trying out new coffee shops.
