Mental Health Practitioner
Sierra Ford-Washington, MSW, LGSW
SHE / HER
As a Black woman and therapist, I bring a grounded and deeply compassionate presence to my work, drawing on my spiritual beliefs and lived experience to create space for healing, truth-telling, and restoration. I am particularly passionate about supporting members of the Black community throughout their lifespan.
As a collegiate basketball player, I learned lessons and developed skills that have been valuable in various aspects of my life. Through basketball, I learned the value of teamwork, resilience, patience, and a strong work ethic. As a point guard, I also developed skills in collaborative leadership. When facing challenges such as injuries, performance-related self-doubt, and mental, physical, and emotional fatigue, I came to understand the importance of seeking support, reassessing personal expectations, and practicing self-compassion—insights that were essential to my growth as a student-athlete and now inform my work as a therapist.
I offer an integrative approach to therapy that centers each client’s story and the systems that shape it. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic techniques, Psychodynamic theory, and Intersectionality in my work with my clients. I support individuals in building a foundation for wellness through everyday practices that promote balance in their lives. Wellness encompasses cultivating a nourishing relationship with food, engaging in enjoyable physical activity, establishing restful sleep routines, and staying hydrated to support both physical and emotional well-being. Rather than emphasizing perfection or rigid goals, I invite clients to explore what health looks like for them—centered on self-compassion, body awareness, and a deep respect for their lived experience.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, racialized stress, questions of identity, or a more profound desire for connection and meaning, I partner with you to co-create a space of trust, acceptance, and care. I welcome individuals of all backgrounds and am committed to supporting clients in reclaiming their best selves.
I welcome you as you are, and invite you to connect!
