Mental Health Therapist
Sarah Buchlaw, MA
SHE / HER
As a community organizer-turned systemic therapist, I believe therapy can be a tool for personal and collective liberation—liberation from pain, generational trauma, and the systems of oppression that harm all of us. My work is informed by my education in couples and family therapy and background in organizing for social justice.
I enjoy supporting people across the lifespan as they navigate transitions, explore identity, and strengthen relationships. I am particularly drawn to working with teens, Jewish folks, couples—particularly those in interracial/intercultural relationships, those working to heal personal, relational, or intergenerational trauma, and anyone desiring depth work and personal insight. I have particular skills working with Neurodiverse clients, drawing on my personal experience and clinical practice. I also have a passion for supporting Jewish folks as they wrestle with the politics of Zionism and diaspora.
I am a Narrative and Experiential therapist. This means I see great power in changing our experiences through changing the stories we tell about ourselves. Because therapy is political, you should know that my experience as a white, cisgender, queer, Ashkenazi Jewish woman with invisible disabilities shapes my perspective. I work from a feminist, identity-affirming, anti-oppressive framework.
Above all, my goal is for you to feel seen and honored for your whole self. This means we will take our time building a trusting relationship and work collaboratively, using your inherent wisdom as the guide for our work.
