Master’s Level Clinical Intern

Stephanie Robinson

SHE / HER

I am currently a Social Worker in the Crisis Response Unit with Dakota County, where I actively co-respond to crisis calls alongside patrol officers in two different Police Departments: West Saint Paul and Lakeville. In this role, I partner closely with emergency responders—including police, fire, and EMS—to provide immediate crisis services. My work involves conducting mental health crisis assessments, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety planning with clients. I recommend and connect clients to appropriate community resources, such as crisis stabilization, psychiatry, therapy, and case management. I utilize motivational interviewing, active listening, and a strengths-based approach to empower clients throughout their recovery journey.

I was born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa, and hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Hamline University (2012). I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Minnesota. Prior to relocating to Minnesota, I gained twelve years of experience in Iowa as a Behavioral Health Intervention Specialist and spent six years working as a paraprofessional in special education.  Additionally, I have experience coaching varsity and AAU girls’ basketball, demonstrating my commitment to youth development and community engagement.

I am passionate about helping and serving others, a commitment that has grown throughout my career in social services and human services. I am known for being spontaneous, outgoing, and adventurous—I love traveling, live music, kayaking, working out, and making meaningful memories with family and friends, especially with my son Zion.

I am honored to contribute my skills and knowledge through this practicum opportunity at The Family Development Center and remain dedicated to advancing my expertise in social work.
